Developing Our Outside Garden
One of the areas we are developing is an outside sensory garden and play area for the children. Fundraising events help support projects like this one. There is a huge planting box, chalk boards, sand pit, play house and a range of equipment for the children to explore. The children planted bulbs in the spring term which provided a beautiful ray of colour. A herb corner has been planted as well as a strawberry patch. The children will be using the produce in cooking activities and for healthy snacks so they have experienced the full cycle from growing to eating. Following future fundraising events we are hoping to erect a pagoda to help provide an area of shade which will also have wind toys and chimes attached to it. The garden provides opportunities for children to learn how to nurture plants, observe the changes that take place within the garden and in their surrounding environment. Encourage the children to be active and take part in physical activities. We are very lucky to have beautiful views of the countryside including Glastonbury Tor. The children have been involved with the development of their new play area as much as possible, building on their interests and creativity. Watching them explore, play and use their natural curiosity has made this project very rewarding indeed.

I must nip down to B&Q and get some more bricks! Off we go!
